The Cabin in the Woods follows five college buddies--Dana Jules, Holden, Marty and Curt, as they set off on a weekend getaway to an isolated cabin set in the woods. As they begin to explore their new surroundings, they soon realize they're not the only ones there and that their getaway has taken a sinister turn.
watch Knock at the Cabin realizes they are playing an even bigger game, as they are subjected to various horrors, both supernatural and human-made. As the night goes on, five of them must make it through the night, or face death.
The group initially splits in two parts: Dana and Marty stay in the cabin , while Jules, Holden, and Curt investigate the strange things happening outside. After a few close encounters, Dana and Marty return to the cabin to inform the group that the creatures outside have been killed, and then discover that Jules, Holden, and Curt have not yet returned.
The other two go outside to search for their companions, and in their search, Dana discovers that the creatures are actually human beings--scientists from a government organization--who have been transformed into monsters and sent to the cabin as part of a secret experiment.
The two eventually locate and rescue their friends, and the five manage to escape the cabin and get back to their cars. Despite their best efforts the group is unable to overcome the creatures that have changed and are forced to take refuge in a mine shaft that is abandoned.
Inside inside the mining facility, they stumble upon a control room and find out the real purpose behind the experiment, which is to create a brand new type of monster that could be used to fight in a conflict. After a brief struggle they manage to shut down the project and escape the mine alive.
In the end, all five the college buddies survive the experience, even though they're all deeply shocked by their experiences. Despite the horrible experiences they endured however, they're determined to put this trauma behind them and get back to normal life.
